How to Rewrite an AliExpress Product Listing Before You Sell It

· 6 min read

Every dropshipper knows the temptation: copy the AliExpress product listing, paste it into your store, and move on. The problem is that an AliExpress product listing is written to sell the supplier's stock to resellers — stacked keywords, unverified claims, machine-translated sizing — not to convince your buyer or to rank your store. Rewriting it properly takes a fixed sequence: extract the facts, drop the hype, rebuild for your customer.

What is wrong with the average AliExpress product listing

The title is usually a pile of synonyms meant to catch every possible search on the platform. The description mixes real specifications with claims nobody verified, and the size chart often contradicts the variant names. On your store, all of that becomes your reputation.

There is also a search cost: the same text sits on the supplier's page and on every store that copied it. Your page adds nothing a search engine has not already indexed elsewhere.

Step 1: Extract the facts, ignore the prose

Read the AliExpress product listing like a data sheet, not like copy. Pull out the product type, material, dimensions, weight, what's in the package, the variant logic and any sizing table. Convert units for your market, and mark anything ambiguous — a size chart you cannot reconcile is a fact to verify with the supplier, not to guess in your listing.

Discard the adjectives. “High quality”, “fashion” and “hot sale” are not facts; they are the first things your rewrite replaces with specifics.

Step 2: Rebuild the title and description for your buyer

Write a new title from the formula: product type, the keyword your buyers search, and the key detail. Then write the description benefits-first, using only the facts from step 1, and answer the questions your buyers ask — sizing, care, compatibility, delivery contents.

Where the supplier's facts run out, say less. A shorter honest listing outperforms a long invented one, because the invented parts are exactly what generates disputes and returns.

Keep the supplier's measurement table open while you write. Every number in your new description should be traceable to that table or to the package contents list — if you cannot point at where a number came from, it does not go in.

Step 3: Fix images and sizing before publishing

Check every image against the product that actually ships: supplier galleries sometimes include colours or bundles that are not part of the offer. Rebuild the size chart from the supplier's numbers in your market's units, and double-check it against the variant names so a buyer cannot order a size your chart describes differently.

This step is slow by hand and non-negotiable. It is also the step that most protects your store's reviews.

A practical note on importing the facts

AliExpress blocks automated reading of its pages, so tools — Funlag's optimizer included — cannot extract an AliExpress product listing directly. The reliable workflow is the manual one this guide describes: copy the facts (not the prose) into the product form, then generate or write the listing from those facts. Funlag flags anything you did not supply instead of filling gaps with inventions, which keeps the rewrite honest by construction.

The rewrite is the product work, not a chore before it

Rewriting an AliExpress product listing by hand takes most sellers the better part of an hour per product. That hour is not overhead — it is where a commodity item becomes your store's product, with your title, your description and your answers. Automate the drafting from verified facts where you can; never automate away the verification.

Try it on your own products

Funlag turns product facts — a URL, a photo, or details you type — into a complete, editable listing: SEO title, descriptions, bullets and ad copy, with unsupported facts flagged instead of invented. Start free with the Listing Optimizer and compare plans when you need more generations.
